The Foundations of
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is supported by two solid foundations: Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation North, serving Atkinson, Ben Hill, Coffee, Irwin, and Wilcox counties and the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation South, serving Berrien, Brooks, Cook, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes counties.

How Donations Help

Both foundations are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations established to support students in their respective counties. With the generous contributions of our donors, the foundations are able to do many things to support students in developing skills needed in the workplace, provide equipment for programs, and assist WGTC in “building futures, one student at a time.” Here are some of the many uses of donors’ contributions:

  • Scholarships for students
  • Textbook assistance for students
  • Support for pinning ceremonies for healthcare programs
  • Special tuition assistance for students of commercial truck driving (a program with very limited HOPE grant coverage)
  • Support for GOAL nominees and finalists
  • Support for business-education partnership meetings
  • Equipment and supplies for programs
  • Program expansions

The Need Is Greater Now

With the reductions in the HOPE scholarship and grant, plus high unemployment rates, there are countless students for whom technical education is moving beyond their reach. That not only reduces their chances of graduating, but also makes it more difficult for local businesses to hire qualified employees and has an impact on our economy. In addition, with the series of reductions in state funding, it is increasingly difficult to offer high-quality programs such as engineering technology and registered nursing which require costly equipment.

There is no better time than now to support WGTC through our foundations. Donors may give to one or both foundations and may direct their gifts to be used at specific campus locations, for specific programs, for specific scholarships, or for other needs.

There are many ways to give:

Thank you for supporting technical education at WGTC through our foundations!
