Frequently Called Numbers
The Agriculture program prepares students for employment in agribusiness operations. The program provides learning opportunities through classroom lecture, hands-on application, and field trips. This establishes and emphasizes academic and technical knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement, or successful self-employment. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain or upgrade present knowledge and skills. This program is suited for individuals who currently are employed or seek employment in agribusiness management, farm organization and management, agriculture policy, and issues of agriculture and natural resources
The Barbering program prepares students for careers in the field of barbering. Learning opportunities include academic and professional knowledge and the skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program focuses on specialized training in safety, sanitation, hair treatments and manipulations, haircutting techniques, shaving, skin care, reception, sales, and management. The Barbering for Cosmetologists Technical Certificate of Credit is also offered to individuals who currently hold a Cosmetology license issued by the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology. Graduates of both programs will be prepared to sit for the state board licensing exam.
Commercial Truck Driving
Truck driving will always remain a constant force on the highways and in the economy. The Commercial Truck Driving Technical Certificate of Credit provides training to students interested in a transportation-related career. The technical certificate will provide entry-level skills, the fundamentals of commercial truck driving, and basic and advanced operations using behind-the-wheel training. Classroom, driving range, and on-the-road experiences prepare students to become truck drivers. At the completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the Georgia CDL exam.
The Cosmetology diploma program prepares the students for a Master Cosmetologist license. Learning opportunities include developmental skills to properly apply products to hair, skin, and nails. The program focuses on theory and lab setting to prepare students for a career in cosmetology. The Cosmetic Esthetician Technical Certificate of Credit is also offered within the cosmetology department. Graduates of each of these programs will be prepared to sit for the state board licensing exams.
The Culinary Arts program prepares students for the culinary profession. The program emphasizes a combination of culinary theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Learn the latest techniques of pastry, cuisine, banquet preparation, nutrition and more. Program graduates can receive an Associate of Applied Science degree, a diploma, or one of many technical certificates of credit. Graduates who are current practitioners will benefit through enhancement of career potential. Entry-level persons will be prepared to pursue diverse opportunities in the culinary field as cooks, bakers, caterers/culinary managers, and/or dietary managers/nutritionists.
Criminal Justice Technology
If you want to pursue diverse opportunities in the corrections, security, investigative, and police administration fields, Criminal Justice Technology is for you! The program emphasizes a combination of criminal justice theory and practical applications, as well as an extensive internship necessary for successful employment. Program graduates can receive a Criminal Justice Technology Associate of Applied Science degree, diploma, and/or technical certificate of credit. Graduates who are current practitioners will benefit through enhancement of career potential.
Early Childhood Care and Education
For those that love working with children, a program within the Early Childhood Care and Education department is a must! Students are provided a unique combination of learning opportunities that will enhance professional skills and open the path toward career satisfaction. Students can enroll in the Associate of Applied Science degree, diploma, or one of several technical certificates of credit. The technical certificates of credit programs meet the minimum requirements for childcare employment in Georgia. The diploma program will allow for career advancement for those working in the childcare field. The Associate of Applied Science degree prepares graduates for careers as lead teachers in both the Georgia Pre-K and Head Start programs, as paraprofessionals, and as childcare facility owner/operators.
The Horticulture program prepares students for careers in horticulture as landscape maintenance workers, installers, irrigation technicians, greenhouse workers, and more. The program provides learning opportunities through classroom lecture, hands-on application, and field trips. This introduces, develops, and reinforces academic and technical knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement, or successful self-employment. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain or upgrade present knowledge and skills. This program is especially suited to individuals who prefer varied tasks and working outdoors. Students can earn a degree, diploma or one of several technical certificates of credit.
Fire Science Technology
The Fire Science Technology program prepares fire service personnel at all levels to become better officers and leaders. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to retrain and upgrade present knowledge and skills. Students may choose to enroll in the degree, one of two diplomas, or one of several technical certificate programs. Now is the time to live a childhood dream while providing this heroic service!
