Transfer Students

Applicants previously enrolled in one or more institutions of higher education can transfer to WGTC by following these simple steps:

Step One

Submit a completed application to the admissions office at the campus you will be attending and pay a one-time, $20 non-refundable application fee. Be sure to fully and accurately answer all residency questions on the application and provide a copy of your Georgia Driver’s License to the Admissions Office. Additional proof of Georgia residency may also be required if seeking in-state tuition.

Step Two

Submit official, sealed transcript from your last college of attendance. Transcripts from other colleges of attendance may also be required for HOPE Scholarship Evaluation, transfer of credit purposes, or for student loan applications. Opened transcripts are not official and therefore invalid.

Students from postsecondary schools outside the United States must have transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved outside organization.

Step Three

Transfer students who have not successfully completed over 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours at the degree level must also submit official, sealed high school/GED transcripts. Opened transcripts are not official and therefore invalid.

Students from secondary schools outside the United States must have transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved outside organization.

Home School Graduates

Applicants of home schools who did not attend a recognized accredited program must adhere to the following alternative path for admission:

  • Submit a letter from the local superintendent’s office verifying that the parent or legal guardian notified the superintendent of intent to home school and must also verify that the parent or legal guardian submitted the required attendance reports to the superintendent’s office on a monthly basis as required by O.C.G.A. 20-2-690.
  • Annual progress reports or final transcripts for the equivalent of the home-schooled student’s junior and senior years. The final progress report should include the graduation date.
Recent home school graduates must provide a Declaration of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program from the Georgia Department of Education instead of the things listed above.

Step Four

Transfer students who have not taken and passed college English and Algebra at a former college will be required to take the Compass Placement Exam.

Compass placement testing will not be required for transfer students who have successfully completed college level English and Algebra. If you wish to exempt the placement exam because you have passed college English and Algebra at a former school, please be certain to provide the admissions office with an official transcript from the college(s) from which you took the English and Algebra.
