Wiregrass to offer Basic Emergency Medical Technician Training in Lakeland

Adel, GA— A Basic Emergency Technician (EMT) training course will available in Lakeland starting in January 2013. Qualified students will participate in approximately 200 total hours of instruction provided through grant funding at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. This training course was developed by community partners and Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Economic Development Department to fill the need for more EMTs in the Lanier County area. The Basic EMT course will prepare an individual to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.

The course fee is $110 and will cover Work Key Assessments for entrance to the training and the cost of taking the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians AEMT certification examination. The Basic EMT training course participants will be provided a textbook through the community. The Basic EMT course will be held in Lakeland during the months of January through May 2013. The classes will be held on two weekday evenings per week. Exact class dates and times to be determined.
