EMS and Paramidicine students

Valdosta, GA: Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Emergency Medical Services and Paramedicine students had the opportunity to get firsthand knowledge of what it takes to work as a flight nurse or paramedic. Air Methods Two out of Quincy, Florida sent a three person medical helicopter crew to the Valdosta Campus to spend time talking with students about working as a flight crew member. Pilot Dean Gulilliams, EMT-P/RN Tommy Cochran, and EMT-P Kathy Hogan met with both the day and evening classes after landing the helicopter in the grass area by the commercial truck driving range. They reviewed the types of patients one could expect to have, what is necessary in terms of landing during the day and evening, and the education needed to become a flight nurse or paramedic.
