Four Wiregrass Georgia Technical College students have been selected as the college’s semi-finalists for the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL).

Chosen as semifinalists are: Candace Dean, an Early Childhood Care and Education student from Morven; Doyle Dean, an Auto Collision Repair student from Morven; Sandra Sheppard, a Business Administrative Technology student from Ocilla; and Heather Wilson, a Drafting Technology student from Valdosta.

GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia, honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. GOAL winners are selected at each of the state’s 25 technical colleges as well as one Board of Regent College with technical education division.

The four semifinalists will participate in a second round of interviews in January. A panel of external judges will select the Wiregrass Georgia Technical College winner at that time. GOAL winners from each college will compete in regional judging in February. In April, all college winners will meet in Atlanta where the nine regional finalists, three finalists from each of the three regions, will be announced and compete in the state level completion where one student will be named the statewide GOAL winner.
