Valdosta, GA—Wiregrass students attended the annual State Officers' Training held at Lake Blackshear, GA, May 31-June 3. Newly elected student members of the State Action Team from Collegiate DECA, National Technical Honor Society, Phi Beta Lamba, SkillsUSA, and Student Leadership Council all converged on this weekend for sessions on leadership, understanding themselves as a leader and a follower, business etiquette, and team building. Each student organization worked together to come up with a plan of work indicating goals and community service outreach activities for the year.

During the weekend, students were also selected for officer positions within their organizations. The students were chosen for officer positions based on interviews and the presenters overall assessment of how they did in the weekend sessions. Several Wiregrass students were selected for officer positions within their student organizations. Shequitta Adams was named parliamentarian for SkillsUSA; Latrina Cope was named reporter/historian for National Technical Honor Society; Akeena West was named vice president for National Technical Honor Society; Jaqueline Hickman was named secretary/treasurer for National Technical Honor Society; and Henry McCray was selected as a state officer alternate for Statewide Student Leadership Council.
