Yolanda Presley, Cassandra Jordan, Gwendolyn Reliford (Mary Hayes Center Director), and Joe Louis Reliford
Douglas, GA— On August 14, Cassandra Jordan, Special Populations and Disabilities Coordinator, and Yolanda Presley, Welcome Center Assistant, spoke to a group of parents about how to make pursuing an education at Wiregrass Georgia Technical part of their success plan. Wiregrass and the Mary Hayes Center for Social Change are committed to working closely with parents, guardians, and community service providers to meet the educational needs of youth and adults. Mrs. Reliford, Director of The Mary Hayes Center, is a retired educator and dedicated member of the Coffee County community. With a shared vision of making a difference, the two organizations are promoting a message of hope; that all things are possible if you believe; and success starts with a good education.
So many times people for various reasons give up on their dream of getting a college degree or additional training and certification. These reasons may include financial distress, unemployment, physical limitations, and even emotional stress. Mrs. Jordan educated the group about how the Special Populations and Disabilities program at Wiregrass is available to assist them. “We provide support services such as customized workshops, seminars, and support groups for students who are in special population categories,” stated Cassandra Jordan. “Program offerings address life issues such as stress management, parenting skills, self-esteem improvement, and job readiness training. Also, accommodations and assistance are offered to eligible students with documented physical, emotional/mental, hearing, visual, learning, and other health impairments.”
