Fall Graduates, Carrie Troupe and Emma Jean Mims Carrie Troupe and her daughter, Emma Jean Mims

Valdosta, GA - Wiregrass Georgia Technical College held the Fall 2013 commencement exercises on Thursday, December 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Square Complex in Douglas, Georgia. The ceremony honored 270 students who were awarded their associate degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit as well as 170 GED® graduates. Every graduate has a special story about their time at Wiregrass or what brought them to this point in their life. One such story is that of Carrie Troupe. She began her journey with Wiregrass when she completed her GED®. She didn’t stop there. She then went on to complete the certified nurse assistant program, and then graduated last week with her diploma in business administrative technology. Making her journey even more amazing is that her daughter and a granddaughter also graduated on December 12. Her daughter Emma Jean Mims graduated from the cosmetology program and granddaughter Jelissa completed her GED. When asked about her experience at Wiregrass she stated “I am very proud of my accomplishments and the example I am setting for my children and grandchildren that age doesn’t matter. You can do it no matter how old you are or the obstacle you may face along the way.”
