Valdosta, GA - Students attending Wiregrass Georgia Technical College were recently awarded financial assistance through several scholarships offered by the Wiregrass Foundation South. Lynn Trexler, Health Information Technology (HIT) student, received the Azalea Health Innovations Scholarship. Theotis Johnson, Jr. and Amber Pike received the Brogdon Emergency Medical Services Exam Scholarship. Ian Morris, Fire Science Technology student, received the Benjamin James Herron Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarships were available because of kind donations by Azalea Health Innovations; the family of Tim Brogdon, Director of Emergency Medical Services at South Georgia Medical Center; and David and Teresa Herron. Dr. Penelope Schmidt, Executive Director for WGTC Foundation South, stated, “We are so thankful for the support of these businesses and community members. Their contributions provide the extra assistance so often needed by students as they prepare for their careers. In addition to supporting the students, these donors help position our area for economic growth and development by building a stronger workforce.”
