Valdosta, GA – Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (WGTC) Foundation South recently elected new trustees as others completed their commitments on the board. The Foundation South supports the students and programs on the Valdosta and Cook Campuses and trustees play a central role in securing donations for this purpose.
Newly elected trustees include Taylor Biddle, Vice President for Commercial Banking Company; Michelle Hayes, Owner of Michelle Hayes Income Tax and Payroll Services; Gloria Mitchell, Community Volunteer; and Richard Welch, Commercial Banker/AVP for First State Bank.
Trustees who are continuing on the board are Bill Slaughter (Chair) of Waller Heating and Air Conditioning, Joe Belson (Vice Chair) of Horace Mann, Bob Foster (Treasurer) of South Georgia Medical Center, Stacy Bush of Bush Wealth Management, Larry Carter of Choice Automotive, Sharah Denton of Brooks County Schools, Thor Hahn, Dr. Charles Hobby, Kevin McCraney of Georgia Power, Sidney Morris, Gary Moser of Moser, Rose & Cox, Andrea Schruijer of Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority, Scott Orenstein of South Georgia Construction and Consulting, Randy Sackewitz of JM Eagle in Adel, Tim Tanner of Coleman Talley LLP, Bill Whitfield of Johnson Distributing, Chip Wildes of SAFT, Cynamon Willis of Ambling Companies, and Baha Zeidan of Azalea Health Innovations.
The Foundation South appreciates the dedication of these trustees as they oversee the Foundation South and seek donations to support students and programs at WGTC. The statewide reductions in HOPE grant and scholarship in recent years have continued to impact the ability of students to complete college, which hinders the workforce and economic development of our local area. Donations from individuals and businesses can be used to establish scholarships and assist with student expenses. Contributions can also be used to provide program support, name buildings, or for other purposes depending on the donor’s wishes.
The Foundation South also thanks those who have just completed their service: Tim Jones of Citizens Community Bank, Butch Houston of Life of the South in Nashville, Simmie McNeal, Wendell Morgan of McDonalds, Michael Purvis of Cook Medical Center, Jim Respess of Timber Products Inspection, and John Whitehead III of City of Valdosta.
