UGA Horticulture Professor to give local presentation

Valdosta, GA— The Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Horticulture Program and the Valdosta Tree Commission are sponsoring a presentation from Dr. Svoboda (Bodie) V. Pennisi , Associate Professor and Extension Landscape Specialist with the University System of Georgia. Pennisi will talk with attendees on how to make the most out of what you have, creating a beautiful landscape with your resources. The presentation will take place on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lowndes Hall Auditorium on the Wiregrass Valdosta Campus.

This event is open to the public at no charge and no registration is required. Dr. Pennisi has an extensive background in floriculture and landscaping. She is the recipient of the John Hutchison Extension Educator Award from the Southern Region-American Society for Horticultural Science and the Outstanding Educator of the Year from the Georgia Green Industry Association. Dr. Pennisi works with national and regional industry organizations including Green Plants for Green Buildings (GPGB), Florida Nursery Greenhouse and Landscape Association (FNGLA) and the National Foliage Foundation (NFF) to furnish scientific data to support the argument for LEED credits in green sustainable interiors based on the use of living plants. She is currently teaching undergraduate courses at the UGA Tifton Campus.
