Wiregrass Coffee Campus Practical Nursing Instructor Donna Corbitt named Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year

Valdosta, GA—Wiregrass Georgia Technical College practical nursing instructor, Donna Corbitt, was recently named the 2013 WGTC Rick Perkins winner.

The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction is awarded annually. This award is designed to recognize and honor technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through innovation and leadership in their fields. Instructors are nominated for the Rick Perkins Award by their peers. Competition among instructors occurs at the college, regional, and state levels.

Corbitt was nominated by her peers in the practical nursing department. She is described as “having a passion for nursing and nursing education, dedicated to her students, and recognizes the need for hands-on learning that the technical system gives to its students.” Corbitt has been an instructor at Wiregrass since 2008 and currently works on the Coffee Campus. She will move on to the regional competition in February.

When asked about being chosen as this year’s winner, Corbitt stated “I feel it is a great honor to be chosen to represent Wiregrass as the Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year.
