Douglas, GA—Wiregrass Georgia Technical College students, faculty and staff participated again this year in the annual Southwire Back to School giveaway held in Douglas. Students from the college were on hand to assist in back to school preparations. Services offered by the students included haircuts from the cosmetology program, fingerprinting by the criminal justice students, and general college information by admissions. “Wiregrass is pleased to play a part in this project with Southwire. This helps our community and allows our students the opportunity to give back to the community they live in, which is so important,” stated Wiregrass Provost Brandy Wilkes. Joanne Lewis President of Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Authority shared, “In an indirect way we are answering a need for workforce development today. By giving away school supplies for the classroom we are helping at an early age by providing the tools necessary for these kids to be successful and further their education.”
