Douglas, GA—Students, faculty and staff on the Wiregrass Coffee Campus collected items during April for care packages for the local National Guard Combat Engineer Battalion. The Battalion is currently deployed to Afghanistan. The unit specializes in bomb and IED removal, and they have been deployed several times in recent years.

The collection drive was led by the Wiregrass Georgia Christian Fellowship (WGCF) and Wiregrass Student Leadership Council (SLC). More than 16 boxes containing soaps, wipes, shampoos, snack cakes, chips, chap sticks, playing cards, mini footballs, gum, candy, face masks, and calendars were collected. A member of the guard state-side support team collected the items the first week of May to be sent to the troops.
