Fitzgerald, GA – Employees from the Jessamine Place recently completed a year-long leadership academy program through Wiregrass Georgia Technical College’s Economic Development Department. Eight employees from the Jessamine Place participated in the four hour course once a week for just under a year. The program included training in Supervising Others, Being a First Time Manager, Communication Skills, Business Etiquette, Conducting Effective Performance Appraisals, Meeting Management, Problem Solving and Decision Making, and Time Management.

Shirley Brooks, the director of the Jessamine Place stated, “We have always valued our partnership with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College because of the enormous benefits gained through their Workforce Development training programs. The Leadership Academy strengthened our management team’s soft skills and interpersonal skills needed for working in today’s environment. In addition, this partnership helped us achieve our strategic goal of building a succession plan to ensure our agency would continue with strong leadership in the future. A bonus was the opportunity to select our own curriculum, participate in positive interaction with the instructor and gain feedback and evaluation on our performance. This experience is one that will benefit our organization for many years to come and I strongly recommend it to other organizations."
