Wiregrass is helping Angela Barker prepare for a future career in cosmetology

Angela Barker
Angela Barker is good to grow
at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College.

Angela Barker ran a homeless shelter for years. In that job she realized that while she could provide emotional help, the physical appearance of many she served was holding them back from a better life. It was this realization that motivated Angela to go back to school to earn her cosmetology diploma. She chose Wiregrass Georgia Technical College because of the small classroom environment and the personal attention students receive from the instructors. “Wiregrass prepares you for the real world,” shared Barker. Once she graduates she feels her success will be measured by her ability to make a difference in the lives of others through cosmetology and what she is learning at Wiregrass. She feels her instructors have gone out of their way to make sure she reaches her professional goals. “They want each student to be successful here at Wiregrass,” Barker shared.

Wiregrass will be hosting a Free Application Day on June 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students interested in the cosmetology program or any other program are encouraged to visit a campus to find out more information. The application fee for new students applying for Fall Semester on this day will be waived. The Ben Hill-Irwin Campus has several new programs including a Barbering program, and an Agribusiness Manager technical certificate program. Visit www.wiregrass.edu to see a complete listing of programs. Fall Semester starts August 19.
