VALDOSTA — In a world where challenges often divide, the Bullard family stands united as a shining example of resilience, determination, and love. This summer, Jessica Bullard and her two children, Waylon and Baylee, achieved a milestone few families can claim. They all earned their GED® from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, proving that perseverance truly runs in the family.

Their journey wasn’t an easy one. A few years ago, the Bullards faced an unimaginable loss with the passing of the family patriarch, husband, and father. The grief left a heavy mark on their hearts and lives, but it did not break their spirit. Instead, it became the spark that ignited a powerful family comeback story.

Waylon was the first to take the leap. Quiet and determined, he enrolled in the GED® program at Wiregrass and completed it with grit and pride. Inspired by her brother’s dedication, Baylee decided to follow in his footsteps. When Jessica brought her daughter to register for classes, she had no idea she’d be joining her too.

With some gentle persuasion from Baylee and encouragement from program staff, Jessica made a life-changing decision to pursue her GED® as well. Balancing work, school, and family responsibilities, the three supported one another every step of the way, studying late nights, encouraging each other through setbacks, and celebrating every victory together.

“This was a major accomplishment for all of us,” Jessica Bullard (mom) said. “The Wiregrass Adult Education Program was truly amazing in helping us reach our goals. The instructors, the support—they made a huge difference in our journey.”

Their favorite quotes kept them motivated along the way, including Zig Ziglar’s classic: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Or in the words of comedian Katt Williams: “Excellence is difficult, but to be mediocre, there is no pressure!” And perhaps most fitting of all, a line from the cult classic Joe Dirt: “What am I going to do, quit? That’s not an option. You gotta keep on keepin’ on.”

Now, with diplomas in hand, the Bullards are preparing for their next chapter - college enrollment this fall. Each family member has their own goals, but they’ll continue their educational journey together, stronger than ever.

The Bullard family is more than a success story; they are the definition of perseverance. And for anyone facing doubt or difficulty, they offer a powerful reminder: no matter how hard life gets, it’s never too late to start and never too early to believe in yourself.
