Fitzgerald, GA — The Associate of Science in Nursing (RN) program on the Ben Hill–Irwin Campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College recently hosted its first pinning ceremony. The college launched the award-winning RN program in Fall Semester 2024, and now the inaugural cohort is ready to graduate. The program is a competitive admissions track in which graduates earn a two-year associate degree.

Wiregrass President DeAnnia Clements welcomed the crowd of family, friends, and students to the ceremony. “I’m incredibly proud of these men and women who have dedicated six terms to rigorous coursework, clinicals, and late nights preparing for this moment,” shared President Clements. “Their commitment reflects the strength of our Ben Hill–Irwin nursing program and the impact it will have on the communities they will serve.”

Associate of Science in Nursing instructors Amanda Taylor and Leigh Ann Reed, along with Program Chair Stacey Register, recognized the graduates and presented the following top awards:

  • The Nightingale Award — Jessica Brown
  • Clinical Excellence Award (demonstrating competence in nursing skills, exceptional patient care, and effective communication) Kewanna Tillman
  • Caring and Compassion Award (showing empathy, understanding, and going above and beyond for patients) Wendy Garcia
  • Spirit of Nursing Award (embodying the heart of the nursing profession) Emily Revell
  • Dedication to Nursing Award (honoring perseverance, commitment, and exceptional work ethic) Jennifer Robinson

The first RN graduating class for the Ben Hill–Irwin Campus includes: Jessica Brown, Madelyn Cruz, McKenna Dorminy, Wendy Garcia, Jessica Medders, Salem Peeples, Janie Ray, Michael Reaves, Emily Revell, Jennifer Robinson, Emma Tillman, and Kewanna Tillman.
