VALDOSTA, GA — Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is proud to announce that Angie Wilson, Executive Director of Financial Aid, has been selected as a recipient of the Excellence in Student Affairs Award from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).
Wilson was one of 22 nominees representing TCSG institutions across the state and one of only three individuals selected to receive the award during the TCSG Student Affairs Summit held today.
The Excellence in Student Affairs Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to student success through their service, leadership and contributions to the student experience. Wilson’s recognition highlights her dedication to supporting Wiregrass students as they navigate the financial aid process and access the resources they need to pursue their educational goals.
“It is a great honor to be selected for this award,” said Angie Wilson, Executive Director of Financial Aid for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. “I can honestly say that this award is only possible through the hard work, ingenuity, innovative ideas, and support of my Financial Aid team. The greatest reward for me as well as my colleagues at WGTC is when we see a student walk across the stage at graduation and know that we had some small part in that student achieving success.”
“Angie has used her skills, experience, and leadership to transform the financial aid department into a very efficient and effective team,” said Dr. Todd Jones, Vice President of Enrollment Management at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. “She and her team continue to update processes and procedures to award students faster and more accurately which has led to a significant reduction in the number of students dropped for non-payment. We are fortunate to have Angie leading our financial aid department.
As Executive Director of Financial Aid, Wilson plays an important role in helping students understand and navigate the financial resources available to them as they pursue their education and career goals. Her recognition reflects the importance of student-focused service and the work of the college’s employees in helping students overcome barriers and achieve success.
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College congratulates Wilson on this well-deserved recognition and is proud to see her contributions to students and the college community honored at the state level.
