Wiregrass Tech’s Corks and Forks Raised Money for Student Scholarships

Valdosta, GA., Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Foundation South hosted the popular Corks and Forks fundraiser event on Thursday, March 14. Corks and Forks is a culinary experience where guests get to sample specialty-prepared small plates and wine pairings in a relaxed environment. The event generated over $15,000 and visibility to our community to help further our mission for the college. The Wiregrass Foundation is the charitable arm for the college which supports student scholarships, other student assistance with equipment and supplies for programs, expansion of programs, and capital buildings. Guests sampled gourmet food from a great lineup of local restaurants: Chef Big Nick Harden with Big Nick’s BBQ, Soul Food, and Wings; Chef Christ Milstead and Cliff Jones with Fairway Tavern; Chef Mitchell Pitts and Hunter Wills with Wiregrass Culinary Arts; Chef Jessica Blackburn with Wiregrass Southern Bistro (Quitman); Chef Mikki Hudson with Jessie’s Restaurant and Catering, Friend’s Grille and Bar and 306 North. Each small plate was paired with wine for guests to enjoy. Guests also had the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes and bid on some silent auction items donated from local businesses and services provided at a few of Wiregrass’s live labs. Music was provided by Blue Factor Band Duo. The event wouldn’t have been possible without local sponsors, which included Stifel, Face Lab, First Federal Valdosta, Miller Hardware Company, Prince Automotive Valdosta, Steel’s Jewelry, Hallabrook Hill, Ace Electric, Inc., BRD Valdosta, and Brookfield Academy.
