Earn College Credit with CLEP Exams
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a series of examinations, which allow students to show their knowledge in a wide range of subjects. The purpose of CLEP is to provide a means for students to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom.
How does it work?

CLEP exams help you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. You can prepare for and take the exams on your own time, whether you’re getting a head start on college or working to finish your degree.
- Save money. A CLEP exam costs $85—a fraction of the average college cost, plus $25 registration fee. Exams are free to all eligible military personnel and select civilian employees.
- Earn college credit. A passing score on a CLEP exam can earn you three or more college credits.
- Save time. With CLEP exams you can place out of introductory courses and move more quickly towards your major or other areas of study.
CLEP examinations may run 90 minutes in duration. (Exceptions: College Composition-120 minutes and College Composition Modular with essay-160 minutes).
How to Register
(This is for non-military personnel and veterans)
There are two steps you will need to take to register and pay for the CLEP exam. Please follow these instructions carefully.
- You may register and pay the $25 registration fee up to two business days prior to your exam date.
• Please choose "CLEP".
• Choose an exam.
• Then, choose a "Date" to take the exam. - IMPORTANT! You must register via My Account at https://clepportal.collegeboard.org before taking CLEP exams.
How to Register if You are MILITARY PERSONNEL or a VETERAN
There are two ways you may register for the CLEP exam. Please follow these instructions carefully.
Valdosta Campus ONLY - If you are interested in taking an exam on our Valdosta Campus, please register through the Wiregrass RegisterBlast portal. All Military Personnel or Veterans will not be charged a registration fee, but will still need to register.
- Please choose "CLEP (Military)" as your GROUP.
- Choose an exam.
- Then, choose a "Date" to take the exam.
OR
Moody Air Force Base Testing Center - If you are interested in taking the exam at our Moody Air Force Base Testing Center, follow these instructions.
AND
IMPORTANT! You must register via My Account at https://clepportal.collegeboard.org/ before taking CLEP exams. You will need to present your voucher on the day of testing.
You will NOT be able to test without a ticket number for CLEP.
